Agro Food Park 26 is a sustainable building that is worth its weight in gold. We now have proof of this with DGNB Gold certification. To achieve this certification, a building must be constructed according to a number of criteria from the Danish Council for Sustainable Building.
The basic idea behind DGNB is that a building is sustainable in the long term when equal emphasis is placed on environmental, economic and social aspects, together with an analysis of the technical and process quality of the building. The holistic approach ensures that sustainable construction is not only assessed on the environmental quality and energy consumption of the building.
Janne Pløen, project manager at Agro Food Park and project manager for the building, is particularly proud of the building's high score on environmental and process quality:
"We have had a strong focus on making good environmental choices, for example in our choice of materials and solutions, and have had an eye for choosing sustainable and Danish wherever possible. We have installed solar panels on a large part of the roof surface, which will supply the building with renewable energy. The high score on process quality was achieved through early and thorough involvement of the operating organisation, which through their participation in the choice of solutions prepares the building for good and efficient operation."
